In June 2025, the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the results of the projects supported by the grant competition for development cooperation in 2025 and 2026. The competition attracted a great deal of interest, with 71 project applications submitted. The total funding – €502,537.57 for projects in the Eastern Partnership countries, Central Asia and Africa, and €700,000 for projects in Ukraine.
Supported projects
In Ukraine, funding is allocated to projects that aim to:
– the development of sustainable rehabilitation networks,
– support for women and children affected by war,
– development of microsurgery infrastructure
– improving the phytosanitary system
– support for public administration reform and euro integration
– exchange of experience in rehabilitation
– Strengthening SMEs’ competitiveness in digitalisation and attracting investment,
– Women’s Economic Empowerment Programme.
Projects supported in other regions of the Eastern Partnership, Central Asia and Africa include:
– women’s empowerment in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan,
– production and export development of safe food in Uzbekistan,
– strengthening the child protection system in Moldova
– STEM education in Tanzania,
– promoting access to education and knowledge in the food sector in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan,
– Strengthening Moldova’s digital and communications infrastructure.
Part-funding is also earmarked for health and oncology development projects in Uzbekistan.

The growing interest in development cooperation underlines the importance of such initiatives for Latvia and partner countries. Priorities – support for social groups, healthcare, business development, digitalisation and knowledge transfer.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to launch another call for projects in 2026.
